Since the WLI's inception in 2015 we have made great progress, notably the following:
- Published white papers on gender diversity
Our faculty, in partnership with the 30% Club, have published whitepapers on gender diversity in business – Looking beyond corporate boards: drivers of female representation in executive roles authored by Professor Sucheta Nadkarni, Dr Elaine Yen Nee Oon and Dr Jenny Chu (2016) and The rise of women in society: enablers and inhibitors by Professor Sucheta Nadkarni, Dr Elaine Yen Nee Oon (2015). Insights from this research will help drive progress in the representation of women in senior executive roles.
- Cambridge Judge Woman Entrepreneur of the Year award
We have sponsored a new award, the Cambridge Judge Woman Entrepreneur of the Year award, as part of the Business Weekly awards. We are proud that the inaugural recipient of this award, Jelena Aleksic of genetic testing company, GeneAdviser, is a participant of the Accelerate Cambridge Programme at the CJBS Entrepreneurship Centre.
To help address gender imbalance and to help more women reach senior positions of influence, we have partnered with the 30% Club to offer five scholarships for female candidates on the Cambridge MBA, Master of Finance, MPhil in Management and MSt in Social Innovation programmes.
- Athena SWAN
We are also proud to be one of the first non-STEMM University departments to sign up to the Athena SWAN Charter and are hoping to gain bronze accreditation in recognition of the work we are doing and planning for the advancement of gender equality, and improving representation and opportunities for progression and success for all.
