Corporate Investment

Watch our interview with Academic Programme Director Professor Raghavendra Rau.

Overview

How can your company make the best possible investment decisions?

This programme provides a framework to help executives analyse all types of corporate investment decisions - both short-term (working capital) and long-term (capital budgeting). Aimed primarily at commercial, shareholder-value oriented enterprises, the hands-on approach to modelling will also be of use in any environment that involves valuing the impact of a project.

Using a mixture of cases and lectures, it will benefit practitioners who want to build their existing skills in the use of financial models. The programme level does assume a basic understanding of finance and accounting principles.

Topics covered include:

  • Company valuation techniques
  • The statement of cash flows
  • Cost of capital calculations
  • Financial ratio analysis
  • Projecting seasonal needs and variations: how varying patterns of activity affect a company's financial plan
  • Project analysis in a complex setting
  • Financial modelling

This programme can be taken on its own or together with five others as a consolidated series. On completion of all six programmes, participants receive the Cambridge Judge Business School Financial Management Certificate of Achievement. On completing the FMCA you will be eligible to become an associate member of Cambridge Judge Business School's global network of graduates and business-focused University of Cambridge alumni, faculty and staff.
