The next wave of Chinese competition: are European companies prepared?

Masterclass with Professor Peter Williamson, Academic Programme Director,
Cambridge Advanced Leadership Programme, 18 September 2012

Time: 18:00 for 18:30, until 20:00
Venue: AT Kearney, London
Cost: This event is free of charge

Chinese companies are rapidly moving beyond simply selling low-end goods at cut prices. They have been using their cost advantage to rapidly bring new technology to the mass market, to offer high levels of customisation, and to turn niche segments into volume businesses. Now they are starting to ramp up innovation and acquiring smaller companies with the technologies they need, especially in Europe, to create their own networks of R&D centres around the world. As a result, the quality and technology gap between China and the West is set to close faster than many believe possible.

The Masterclass will shine the spotlight on these trends and then consider the options for European companies: If today's value-added products and services and niche segments will no longer be immune from Chinese competition how should Western companies respond? And what opportunities might these developments throw up?
