Before studying for an MBA and PhD in Finance at York University (Canada), Dr Kang served at the Financial Supervisory Service of Korea for over eight years. He attained experience in many areas in finance such as over-the-counter derivatives, securities brokerage, and banking as a financial market regulator during his service. Dr Kang is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Dr Kang was an associate from 2000 to 2005 and senior examiner from 2005 to 2008 at Financial Supervisory Service of Korea. He was also an instructor in Finance from 2015 to 2016 at Schulich School of Business, York University.
