Usha's Story
Wide ranging and practical
Before joining the Cambridge MBA I worked in consulting, project management, product development and presales in technology companies - Sapient, SAP Labs, MindTree Consulting and DSL. I was keen on making the transition into more strategic business roles but wanted to explore several industries before I settled into a domain. I chose the Cambridge MBA because of its practical approach to tackling real life business challenges and its emphasis on being truly diverse. True to expectations, the programme gave the opportunity to explore a whole range of industries, right from pharma to renewable energy and to the financial services industry through the three coursework projects. The programme further enabled me to invest sufficient time and effort into building strong partnerships with the close knit network of entrepreneurs, marketers, technologists, managers and consultants who thoroughly enriched my learning experience.
Opening doors
Brand recognition of the Cambridge MBA helped me tap employment opportunities within prominent organisations. It enabled me to make my career move into the financial services industry with Standard Chartered Bank. I joined Standard Chartered as it is one among very few institutions which have shown resilience to adverse economic conditions. It is a major player in the emerging markets and provides an amazing opportunity to participate in the key decisions made by the business world in these historic times.
High energy required!
From the stimulating seminars given by many renowned business leaders to the inspiring environs at Cambridge, I experienced the contagious energy levels that Judge is so famous for. Juggling between Salsa sessions and badminton, producing a play 'Don Juan on Trial' and catching up on reading for the 9am session next morning – it was a demanding but truly gratifying experience.
