The MPhil in Finance programme's Finance specialisation consists of nine courses:
- five core courses
- four electives
- plus a preparatory maths and statistics course (see below)
It may be possible for students to offer a dissertation in place of three of the courses. Find out more »
Preparatory Maths & Statistics
This pre-term course starts in mid-September, and its aim is to review the required mathematical and statistical methods required for microeconomics and econometrics modules. Attendance is mandatory; those who do not attend will not be admitted to the MPhil in Finance programme.
Assessment
Assessment will be by written examination, project, or coursework, depending upon the nature of the particular course. Each course carries the same weighting towards the final mark. Both Corporate Finance I and II and Asset Pricing I and II count as two courses, but each is assessed by a single final exam.
