Professional experience
As well as his role as Director of Management Studies at Gonville and Caius College, Barry is also the College's Senior Bursar, responsible for the College's financial management.
Barry was formerly European founder and subsequently Global Chairman of Braxton Associates, the international strategy and financial consulting firm. This later became the strategy practice of Deloitte Consulting, which grew under Barry's leadership to over 1,000 people in over twenty offices worldwide. At Deloitte Barry was also a member of the Global Management Committee directing Deloitte Consulting's $4 billion business overall, and a member of the Committee managing Deloitte Consulting's Service Line development and worldwide deployment.
Barry is an experienced consultant and is well known internationally as a presenter and teacher on aspects of strategy, technology and implementation in a variety of forums, including business schools and top management conferences. As a consultant, he has been personally responsible for strategy work with major companies and governmental organisations in many European countries, as well as in the Americas, Africa and Asia-Pacific. He currently serves on the advisory boards of several consultancies and high technology firms.
Barry is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).
Research interests
Advanced strategy; corporate and business unit strategy; linking competitive strategy formulation and execution processes explicitly to the continuous maximisation of shareholder value and enhancing this by the use of a variety of software supporting platforms.
