Professional experience
Simon Woolley was most recently a Distinguished Advisor for Financial Skills at BP, where he was instrumental in shaping the company's investment evaluation methodology and a vast array of financial skills training courses to raise the financial acumen of BP world-wide.
A graduate in Chemical Engineering from UMIST, Simon has enjoyed a long and successful career at BP. His roles have been varied, from the company's diversification unit in the late 70s; to secondments into the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office; to roles in oil trading and Corporate and Chemicals strategic planning.
Simon spent the last ten years in BP Finance on a mission given to him by the CFO to improve financial skills across the entire company. He took early retirement from BP at the end of 2006 to concentrate on lecturing and writing a text book on financial decision making.
