Professional history

Jonathan is a partner in the London office of the international law firm, Allen & Overy. He is Chairman of Allen & Overy's India Group, its Innovation Panel and also of its affiliate, aosphere, which provides alternative solutions for legal risk management.

Jonathan joined Allen & Overy in 1978. He was one of the founding partners of the firm's New York office between 1985 and 1988 and of its Hong Kong office from 1988 to 1997.

Jonathan practices in the field of energy and infrastructure projects, often advising on the financing of those projects. He has advised sponsors, financial institutions and governments in that field. He has also advised on tax structured and general banking transactions and on a wide range of capital markets instruments, both debt and equity.

Jonathan was previously an elected, non-executive member of the Allen & Overy global board, on the board of its documents-to-data affiliate, docGenix, and Chairman of its global banking practice. He led the team which developed and, in late 2013, launched Allen & Overy's flexible resourcing business, Peerpoint.

Society & charity work

Jonathan is a Governor of Westside School in Hammersmith, West London, a school for students in years 9 to 11 who have generally been excluded from mainstream education or are at risk of exclusion. The school's aim is to offer a full time GCSE programme of study and equip its students with the necessary life skills to become part of their communities and get back on track in education or work.
