Professional history

Matthew is a CEO and investor with 20 years’ experience of managing institutional pension funds. He is the CEO of the CERN Pension Fund based in Geneva, Switzerland and has previously worked for a number of international organisations including the John Lewis Partnership, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, and Mercer Consulting.

He has wider experience in the leadership of charities, foundations, endowments, sovereign wealth funds, and family offices.

Society & charity work

Matthew is a Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a Member of Chatham House, and a Freeman of the City of London. 

He has previously served as an expert at the World Economic Forum advising on retirement investment systems, a board member at Villiers Park Educational Trust, a member of the Integrity Committee at the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, and spent several years serving in the Royal Navy Reserve.
