Our requirements

When you apply to the Master of Studies in Entrepreneurship we need to know that you can benefit fully from this intensive, demanding programme.

Successful applicants to the programme will meet the following minimum requirements:

Undergraduate achievement Be a graduate of a recognised university and have successfully completed an undergraduate degree at a minimum of 2:1 standing or above. First Class degrees are strongly preferred.
English proficiency English as your native language
IELTS minimum overall score of 7.5, with not less than 7.0 in each element
TOEFL internet-based test (iBT) minimum overall score of 110, with not less than 25 in each element
Skills & competencies Demonstrate entrepreneurial thinking and ambition through the answers to essay questions posed as part of the application process, and, if invited, to questions posed at interview.

Detailed requirements

Undergraduate achievement

Candidates are expected to have a good undergraduate degree from a recognised university. We are looking for the equivalent of a first class or good upper-second class honours in a British university or equivalent. You must submit a copy of your undergraduate academic transcript (or degree certificate if a transcript is not available. Applicants who have not achieved the minimum requirement at undergraduate level, could be considered if they have a relevant postgraduate qualification or good masters degree.

If you have not previously studied in the UK, it is important that you check if the qualifications you hold are considered suitable preparation for entry onto our programme. Check the suitability of your qualifications on the University's website.

Please note that the University of Cambridge does not consider applications to postgraduate programmes from applicants with no undergraduate degree. This includes applications to the Masters.  

English proficiency

Applicants to the programme need to be fluent in English and we assess fluency in the following ways:

  • if English is your native language.
  • or you have an IELTS minimum overall score of 7.5, with not less than 7.0 in each element. The separate components must have been taken at the same time and in the past two years.
  • or if you have a TOEFL internet-based test (iBT) minimum overall score of 110, with not less than 25 in each element.

Not yet taken a language test? Test result out-of-date or not up to the required standard? Don't worry, you don't have to include your English language test scores with your initial application documents; they can be forwarded on later in the process. If you are made an offer, one of the conditions of entry will be getting the required standard of language test score.

Skills & competencies

Your application will include answers to several essay questions concerning your entrepreneurial goals and objectives, and the efforts you have taken to advance any entrepreneurial projects prior to the programme.
