Our networks, conferences & events

African businesswoman

Our executive education programmes are enriched by our internal University networks of academics, students and alumni combined with the work of Cambridge's Centre of African Studies and a series of collaborative University research initiatives under the Cambridge-Africa Programme umbrella.

Furthermore, the proximity of Cambridge to the City of London, one of the world's major financial centres, enables us to seamlessly draw on external experts and practitioners within its finance network, a rapidly developing cluster of Africa-directed capital and finance. Acknowledging the rounded nature of our programmes which explore the macro-economic, political and economic elements of economies in Africa, alongside management science, Cambridge is able to leverage Commonwealth ties which make London a powerful external base for African diplomats and politicians.

Moreover, the global power of the Cambridge brand means that Executive Education invites contributions from high profile experts and practitioners from across Africa.

Business in Africa Conference

Executive Education is an annual supporter of the Business in Africa Conference organised by the student and alumni-led Cambridge Africa Business Network. Over the past three years the Conference has featured leaders in the African spheres of business and politics including Executive Chairman of MTN, the Pembani Group and the former CEO of the MTN Group, Mr Phuthuma Nhleko, Chief Economist of the African Development Bank, Professor Mthuli Ncube, and the current Dean of the Lagos Business School, Dr Enase Okonedo.

The conferences have presented an opportunity to hear about competition, monopolies and oligopolies; Nollywood and the wider cultural and creative industries and, the management of human resources against the backdrop of entrenched traditional cultural values and behaviours. Debates on the fragile yet growing African middle classes have taken place in conjunction with discussions about the financial markets.

Events

Executive Education will be hosting a series of conversations, seminars and events in Cambridge Judge Business School to explore African political and business leadership, governance, human resource management, innovation, entrepreneurship, trade relations and health care management in parallel with our premium customised programmes.
