Faculty and practitioners have been chosen from many different academic and practical backgrounds and specialisms to represent as wide a range of experience as possible. This list reflects a sample of individuals involved in PSF programmes. CJBS faculty is supplemented with a wide range of practitioner experts to bring the latest market insights into our programmes.

Stacey Clifford

Client Relationship Manager

In her role as Client Relationship Manager Stacey is tasked with increasing the professional service firm portfolio across open enrolment and custom programmes in UK and Europe. Stacey is responsible for building client relationships, developing opportunities and liaising with faculty and external speakers.

Matthew Jones

Fellow in Professional Services Leadership & Strategy

Matthew is a Fellow in Professional Services Leadership and Strategy, as well as a consultant, non-executive chair and leadership mentor, with over 30 years’ business experience, including in global law firm leadership. He draws upon his leadership, management and consulting experience to contribute to the School’s programmes and research focused on the professional services sector.

Mark Smith

Fellow & Senior Advisor

Mark is a Fellow and Senior Advisor for the professional service firm programmes where he designs and delivers executive education content to hep clients identify and develop competitive advantage. Mark has over two decades of experience in the legal profession including 10 years as a practising lawyer (national and City firms and leading an international in-house legal team) and 10 years of commercial strategy experience (working for listed information, technology and outsourcing businesses serving the legal sector). Mark holds an MBA and MSc in behavioural change and also works as an executive coach to the leadership of some of the UK’s leading law firms. This blend of experience provides Mark with a unique perspective on the challenges facing today’s leaders.

Mark de Rond

Professor of Organisational Ethnography

Mark is an experienced executive education contributor in the area of high performance teams, strategy and negotiation strategies. As an active ethnographer Mark draws upon his research, into the Cambridge University boat crew and his tour of duty observing a team of military surgeons in Afghanistan, to provide similarities of leaders in professional service firms. In October 2013, Mark and a Cambridge colleague rowed the navigable length of the Amazon river, setting a new Guinness World Record.

Philip Stiles

Associate Professor in Corporate Governance

Philip developed the Global Human Resource Research Alliance, a research group involving 30 companies worldwide – American Express, BAE Systems, BT, EDF, GE, General Mills, IBM, IKEA, Infosys, Matsushita, Oracle, Procter and Gamble, Rolls-Royce, SANYO, Sealed Air, Shell, Siemens, TCL, TNT, and Unilever. The project represents the most comprehensive worldwide research study in the subject. The contribution to knowledge has been to identify both innovative and best HR practices within companies, and to show how human capital integrates with key dimensions of social and organisational capital.

Lionel Paolella

Associate Professor in Strategy & Organisation

Lionel’s main line of research explores how market categories – a set of firms that share cognitive and cultural similarities – affect the social evaluation and performance of organisations, specifically in the international legal services market. Lionel currently teaches the core Strategy course in the MBA curriculum, and he is also involved in Executive Education programmes on Professional Service Firms. He received the Cambridge Judge Teaching Award in 2017.

Jane Davies

Management Practice Professor in Operations Management

Professor Jane Davies is Deputy Director of the Centre for Process Excellence and Innovation (CPEI). She teaches sessions in Operations Management, Operations Strategy, Lean Six Sigma and Project Management to a number of our Executive Education clients.

Kishore Sengupta

Professor of Operations Management

Professor Kishore Sengupta is Professor of Operations Management at Cambridge Judge Business School. His current research, teaching and consulting activities are focused on managing complex project, managing complexity in organisations and managing innovations in networks.

Benn Lawson

Associate Professor in Operations Management

Benn serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Operations Management, and as an associate editor at the Journal of Supply Chain Management. He is a board member of the European Operations Management Association (EurOMA), and a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply, UK (MCIPS). He has held visiting appointments at University of Pittsburgh, North Carolina State University, Manchester Business School, and University of Melbourne. Prior to joining Cambridge Judge Business School, Dr Lawson was Senior Lecturer in the School of Management at Queen’s University Belfast, UK, and Lecturer in the Department of Management & Marketing at the University of Melbourne, Australia.
