The Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance has established an expansive and collaborative network of relationships with alternative finance industry players, trade associations, academic research institutes and government departments in the UK, Europe, North America and the developing markets. We are already advising and involving corporate leaders, senior business executives, FinTech entrepreneurs, SME owners, major institutions and NGOs at regional, national and international levels on all forms of alternative financing activities.
The CCAF will continue to expand its active engagements with the global business communities by:
- Developing an Alternative Finance Training component to Cambridge Judge Business School’s existing, and renowned, Executive Education programme, to include modules on entrepreneurial finance, SME finance, social finance, green finance and community finance. This training has already been trialled with senior executives at PwC and in March 2014 Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS), in partnership with Cambridge’s Future Business Centre, organised a hugely successful ‘Crowdfunding for Social Enterprises’ training workshop.
- Developing an outreach programme to involve and train community groups and leaders, creative artists and charity fundraisers to diversify their funding or income by accessing alternative finance. We have experience of providing pro bono consulting services to numerous organisations including the RSA, as a result of which, the organisation secured £400,000 through crowdfunding.
- Collaborating with practitioners – corporations, institutions and government agencies – to produce current and relevant research based on their experiences, and topical issues or developments in alternative finance.
- Contributing our expertise at public speaking engagements. In 2014, CJBS researchers delivered a keynote speech at the LendIt Europe Conference; contributed as panellists at the AltFi Europe Summit and as international expert representatives at the 2nd Annual Global Crowdfunding Convention in Las Vegas.
