Farnaz Mahdavian.

Risk Researcher 

BSc (Tehran Azad University), MSc (Kyoto University of Japan).

Farnaz Mahdavian has Bachelor of Computer Engineering from Tehran Azad University and Master of Engineering in Risk Management from Kyoto University of Japan. Following her studies, she worked as a research assistant at Kyoto University in analysing people’s evacuation behaviour and the aftermath of natural disaster. She then worked at Center for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Technology in Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany on Forensic Disaster Analysis focusing on tropical cyclone risk in South East Asia. She has been a doctoral researcher at Department of Economics and Management in KIT since 2017 analysing flood risk and modelling decision making in crisis.

She is working with the Centre for Risk Studies to analyse resilience and recovery and role of insurance after earthquakes, tsunami, storms and floods.
