Idea

ConservationK partners with those on the frontline of conservation to effectively use intelligence and stop illegal wildlife trafficking.

ConservationK provide support, training and guidance to organisations involved in tackling illegal wildlife trafficking. They provide expertise to conservation communities by leveraging intelligence, investigation and wildlife conservation training and mentoring to contribute to the preservation of iconic wildlife for future generations.

They ensure intelligence is leveraged to create a full picture of what is happening within the complex world of illegal wildlife crime and then help organisations on the ground to put a stop to it.

People

Nathalie Lockton has private sector, law enforcement and military investigation and intelligence experience with a particular focus on financial crime and anti-money laundering. She is experienced in building training and mentoring programmes.

Impact

The mission of ConservationK is to empower those on the frontline of conservation with the knowledge and intelligence they need to stop illegal wildlife trafficking.

They want to ensure intelligence is leveraged to create a full picture of what is happening within the complex world of illegal wildlife crime in order to stop it. While there are many organisations working towards this shared mission, this remains an enormous challenge.

Illegal wildlife trade is the fourth most-lucrative form of illegal trafficking in the world, after drugs, firearms, and humans. Their mission is to bolster the abilities of law enforcement agencies, specifically in developing countries, leading to successful prosecutions and a reduction of wildlife crime.

They develop ethical work practices through the use of transparent and accountable intelligence-led investigations. They provide specialist expertise to the global conservation community as a whole while also ensuring local communities benefit from their work.
