Form The Future

Back to Our ventures

Form the Future graduated from Cambridge Social Ventures in July 2016.

Form the Future, a social enterprise operating across Cambridge, South Cambridgeshire and East Cambridgeshire, links schools with local businesses to get young people ready for work. Since the end of a funded careers service, most of the information students get about careers is provided by non-specialist school staff. Parents and teachers are sources of influence, too, but this advice can be based on out of date attitudes or reinforce patterns of underachievement.

Form the Future believes that regular contact with local businesses can make a valuable contribution to careers education and all of their activity is based on this model. They run a wide range of activities that connect young people with local employers to develop their careers awareness, employability skills and aspiration including careers events, skills sessions, enterprise challenges, mentoring and work experience.

In a fast-growing region like Cambridge, where employers can’t hire fast enough, it’s essential that young people know where the jobs will be and what skills will be most in demand. Form the Future does this, providing schools with a simple way to prepare students for life after school and giving businesses the chance to take part in educational outreach and build a talent pipeline.

Get in touch

Form the Future works best when the whole community is involved, so would like to hear from new businesses interested in joining as volunteers, mentors, school partners and work experience hosts. Form the Future is also expanding its service beyond state schools to the independent sector and possibly to other age groups as well, so any interested parties, please get in touch.

Increasing Form the Future’s visibility is core to its success and Michaela and Anne welcome all opportunities for media coverage and speaking engagements.

Potential funders are also invited to connect.
