REACH Ely (Reimagining Churches as Community Assets for the Common Good) is a three-year project to help communities make fuller use of their historic churches. The project is implemented by the Diocese of Ely and Cambridge Judge Business School with the support of Allchurches Trust and Historic England.

This innovative research project in the church context will provide an understanding of the relationship between communities and wider use of church buildings as well as the contribution that churches make to the common good. The project will determine community values, needs and opportunities that can be used in the most effective way to ensure a win-win outcome for communities and sustainable future of historic church buildings.

No previous project on this scale has succeeded in reaching so far beyond the church’s existing members and friends. By connecting the expertise of Cambridge Judge Business School and the local experience of our parishes, this project will break new ground in understanding how the significance of the church for society can be understood, developed and sustained.
