Financial Times: US businesses ‘get more aid’ than UK

Small businesses in the US are receiving up to 10 times as much government financial support as their British equivalents, according to a report by Cambridge University’s Centre for Business Research. The study claims that a single US scheme, the Small Business Innovation Research programme, has been at least as important in value terms as venture capital as a source of early-stage finance for American start-ups.
