Morrisons announced a £176 million loss for the last year and said it will invest £1 billion in lowering prices in order to compete with discount stores. Jaideep Prabhu, Jawaharlal Nehru Professor of Indian Business & Enterprise at CJBS, predicts the price war will bring benefits to customers ‘in the short term, but in the longer term…the consequence will be less competition.’
