Financial Times: Cambridge puts record sums into high-tech ventures

 

The University of Cambridge has invested a record amount this year to turn academics into high-tech entrepreneurs, sinking £2.7m into early-stage start-ups as it seeks to improve the UK’s reputation for commercialising university innovations … A notable initial public offering that emerged from the fund was Horizon Discovery, a biotech group that specialises in gene-editing technology, and that raised £68.6m after listing in London in March.

Darrin Disley, CEO at Horizon Discovery Group, is an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning at Cambridge Judge Business School.
