The business schools at the universities of Cambridge and Oxford, along with three top London institutions, are the five big hitters in global business research according to the latest UK government assessment, the Research Excellence Framework (REF). The results are particularly important as they determine levels of future government funding for business and management research at each school.
The Research Evaluation Framework is the UK government’s benchmarking and evaluation exercise for universities, analysing the research outputs of academics, and is carried out every six years. 60 per cent of the School’s submissions have been given a 4* ranking (“world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour”) in the category of Business and Management Studies.
