Red wine was one of the best investments in the 20th century, outperforming government bonds, fine art and even stamps – if you managed not to drink it on the way. The most comprehensive study of the price of wine to date shows that wine prices outperformed most other asset classes throughout the 20th century and was only beaten by stock market returns.
