Mr Muruganantham adopted the principles of frugal innovation and now his startup is competing with top global brands. “It is definitely possible to provide affordable solutions to all the world’s problems by innovating,” he says. Jaideep Prabhu, Jawaharlal Nehru Professor of Indian Business & Enterprise at Cambridge Judge, says frugal innovation is “all about finding new ways to create more value for consumers, shareholders and society while reducing the use of resources — whether they are financial or natural resources or time.”
