In order to diversify away from its Russian-gas dependence, the energy rich Caspian states need to step in. Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan can offer game-changing potentials for energy consumers in Europe and Asia, writes Gulgiz Dadashova. Cambridge Judge’s Chi Kong Chyong noted that Azerbaijan is “perhaps the only supplier in the region able to respond to the EU’s gas diversification strategy away from Russia.” Although the other three countries have big potential here, they face a number of geopolitical and financial challenges, experts say.
