The Guardian: End of an era: 10 Labour women who changed the face of Westminster

The number of women MPs across all parties is set to reach a record high after the 2015 General Election, to 192, but that will still be just short of the 30 per cent target organisations are asked to set themselves to ensure they are gender balanced. In this article, CBR’s Boni Sones OBE reviews what the 10 high-flying Labour Women MPs who stood down this year achieved in Parliament during their 200 joint years as Parliamentarians. As the Guardian headline points out: “The Labour Women changed the face of Westminster!” Sure Start, Equality Legislation, Civil Partnerships, action on the Environment and gender neutral legislation are all part of their remarkable legacy.
