BBC: Blockchain bandits hit crypto start-ups

Interest in blockchain is growing not only among financial institutions, governments and investors but also among hackers, says the BBC. “More than 600 different cryptocurrencies have come out since Bitcoin emerged in 2009,” says Dr Garrick Hileman from the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance. Many cyber attacks are “aimed at the wallets where the digital cash is kept, but others have gone after the blockchains they use to keep track of transactions.”
