ESG Magazine: The 2016 winners

The FIR-PRI Awards, which have been running since 2005, have established themselves as one of the highest-profile bursary competitions supporting academic research on subjects in finance and sustainability. The awards were created to build bridges between the academic and finance communities, and related stakeholders, and encourage broader disciplinary development of responsible investment scholarship.

The winners of the Best Published Academic Article awards were Cambridge Judge Business School’s Elroy Dimson, Oğuzhan Karakaş and Xi Li, for the paper “Active Ownership” (Review of Financial Studies, December 2015). The paper analyses highly intensive environmental, social, and governance engagements with US public companies, undertaken by a large institutional investor with a major commitment to responsible investment.
