Dr Garrick Hileman, Research Fellow at the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF), comments on China initial coin offering (ICO) regulation and possible knock-on effects for bitcoin. Dr Garrick Hileman says, “The ICO market has been on fire lately, over a billion dollars have been raised through the ICO in a couple months alone, that’s almost equal to the amount of venture capital that the blockchain sector has attracted in five years. So it is not surprising that regulators in particularly hot markets like China are raising concerns and looking to slow down the growth of it.”
