BBC News: Bitcoin swings as civil war looms

 

The value of digital currency has been in turbulence in recent days, says the BBC. Dr Garrick Hileman, Research Fellow at the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF), Cambridge Judge Business School, comments on the latest bitcoin scaling developments and what’s ahead. “The vast majority of people in the Bitcoin community are opposed to splitting Bitcoin into two competing cryptocurrencies. Such a move would weaken Bitcoin’s network effect advantage and sow confusion. It is much more likely that people who are dissatisfied with Bitcoin’s direction will simply move on to something else, which is what we’ve seen in the past.”
