BBC Radio 4: Disrupted Development

What is the impact of digital disruption, including automation, artificial intelligence and robotics, in developing countries? BBC talks to experts involved in the digital economy in countries such as India, Tunisia and Kenya. Jaideep Prabhu, Professor of Marketing at Cambridge Judge, comments on how digital disruption in India could affect the jobs market. “Some companies might substitute labour for technologies and use automated solutions in manufacturing. This might not necessarily be a good outcome for a country like India which needs to employ a large number of people entering the workforce over the next ten to 20 years,” Jaideep says.
