Financial Times: Market place lenders struggle to find borrowers

 

Bryan Zhang, director of the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF), comments on peer-to-peer lending. “The market has been developing very quickly. One watershed moment was when [UK] regulations came in in 2014 — that gave more confidence to institutional investors, so they really see this as a new asset class,” he says. “The problem for the industry in the US and UK is not really on the funding side; it’s attracting borrowers.” (subscription)
