The 2017 Global Cryptocurrency Benchmarking Study gathered and analysed data from approximately 150 cryptocurrency organisations and individuals, and is the first comprehensive empirical study of global cryptocurrency activity. The study estimated “there are 5.8 million users generating a market value of $27 billion, which represents a level of value creation on the order of Silicon Valley success stories like Airbnb.”
