Money Control: Energy consumed by bitcoin miners around the world is more than over 150 countries

 

Bitcoin mining required a lot of electricity, and if bitcoin were a country it would stand at 62nd position in the world in terms of annual electricity consumption, says an article in Money Control. The majority of bitcoin mining pools are based in two countries – China and the US, according to a study by the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance and Visa. The study says 58 per cent of mining pools are based in China and 16 per cent in the US – which is almost three-quarters of all major mining pools.
