Dr Mark Thompson, University Senior Lecturer in Information Systems at Cambridge Judge Business School, says there could be potential savings in the NHS if digital technologies are applied. According to Mark, around £7 billion could be saved a year – an equivalent of salaries for almost 192,000 junior doctors – if 40 per cent of management and administration switched to digital technologies. “We could potentially achieve the seemingly impossible: substantially increasing, as well as improving, tomorrow’s face-to-face public services,” he says.
