Dr Edward Oughton, research associate at the Centre for Risk Studies, has co-authored various reports on cyber attacks on electricity distribution networks. Commenting on what operators of power systems should do to defend their assets from hackers, he said: “It’s a cliche, but you’re only as strong as your weakest link,” adding that it’s “the human element that is typically weakest.”
