BBC: The neglected benefits of the commute


Commuting to and from work makes many people miserable, yet there are some simple strategies that can help to “reclaim your commute” in order to reduce stress and improve productivity, according to research co-authored by Dr Jochen Menges, University Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour at Cambridge Judge Business School. The research found that people who are thinking and planning the day and week ahead “tend to weather the stresses of the journey better than people whose minds wander aimlessly” – which translates into greater job satisfaction.
