Cambridge Bio-Augmentation Systems (CBAS), a startup that was previously on the Cambridge Social Ventures programme run by the Cambridge Centre for Social Innovation, has partnered with Nvidia to “bring AI-powered edge-computing to the most powerful communication network – the nervous system.” CBAS aims to diversify the prosthetics available to patients by standardising the interface between an amputated stump and any prosthetic. “We’re building what is essentially a USB port to allow communication with the nervous system,” says CEO Emil Hewage.
