The European Business Review: Smile, smile and be a leader? Differences in male and female leaders’ use of humour

 

Being funny at work is good for business, but male and female leaders use humour differently, according to a paper co-authored by Sucheta Nadkarni, Sinyi Professor of Chinese Management at Cambridge Judge Bhsiness School and Vanessa Marcié, alumna of Executive MBA programme (EMBA 2016) at Cambridge Judge. The paper found that “women often hold back in using humour even when it may be effective – and this represents a major lost opportunity for women to become effective leaders.”
