University Affairs: Social entrepreneurship gains ground on Canadian campuses

 

Canada’s universities are launching new programmes aiming to give students an opportunity to tackle issues of importance to their local communities. “The experiential learning aspect is quite important. Part of that is career exploration: ‘What could this mean for me?’” says Nicole Helwig, founding manager of Memorial University’s Centre for Social Enterprise and fellow at the Cambridge Centre for Social Innovation at Cambridge Judge Business School.
