Thrift, an online marketplace for second-hand clothes, shoes and other quality goods, has received a donation from an anonymous donor that is worth more than £500,000. The donation included 150 designer dresses, 400 pairs of shoes, 75 handbags and £6,000 worth of jewellery. Joe Metcalfe, founder of Thrift and alumnus of Cambridge Judge Business School, said: “When we received this donation we were shocked. We sold a Louis Vuitton bag within minutes of uploading it.” The startup was previously on the Cambridge Social Ventures programme, run by the Cambridge Centre for Social Innovation.
