Financial Times: Letters: Overuse dulls the impact of a vigorous figure of speech

 

Dr Simon Taylor, Faculty (Professor level) in Management Practice (Finance) at Cambridge Judge, writes a letter to the FT about overused metaphors such as “weaponise” that have “lost any impact through overuse”. Simon says nobody ‘seems to able to describe the possibility of a no-deal Brexit without writing about Britain “crashing out of the EU”.
