The Independent: ‘Google has entered the videogaming industry. Its competitors should be scared’

 

An article by Dr Kamal Munir, Reader in Strategy & Policy at Cambridge Judge, and Hamza Mudassir, Visiting Fellow and alumnus (MBA 2012), discusses the threat posed to videogame console makers Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo by Google’s plan to launch the cloud-based Stadia gaming platform. “For years, streaming could not replicate the experience that consoles provided because of poor visual quality and slow response times,” they write. “These problems are almost completely solved now: with a fast-enough internet connection, videogames running on Stadia are likely to look and play as well as their console counterparts.”
