A study co-authored by Raghavendra Rau, Sir Evelyn de Rothschild Professor of Finance at Cambridge Judge Business School, explores how traumatic experiences in childhood can affect the behaviour of professional investors. The study examined the investing activity of more than 500 fund managers between 1980 and 2017 and found that managers who experienced trauma at an early age such as the death of a parent were more risk-averse.
