A study co-authored by Dr Yeun Joon Kim, University Senior Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour at Cambridge Judge, is featured in the article. The study found that leaders often transfer culture from their previous job and this can affect their decisions and result in poor outcomes. “Companies hire CEOs to imbue new insights and our research shows that new leaders do indeed deliver different kinds of cultural insights, but companies should also be aware that these insights are not necessarily effective given that the companies they are moving to may have a quite different set of problems and issues,” Joon says.
