According to a study from the Cambridge Centre for Social Innovation, there is no evidence that charging for services weakens a charity’s perceived legitimacy. The study was conducted by Flóra Raffai, Chief Executive of Cambridge-based vision charity Cam Sight, as her thesis for the Master of Studies in Social Innovation. Charities that charge generally “have more income, more numerous and diverse sources of income, larger staff numbers, and a larger community of beneficiaries.”
