A study co-authored by Dr Yeun Joon Kim, University Senior Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour at Cambridge Judge Business School, looked how negative criticism in companies affects creativity. The team found that criticism from subordinates made superiors more creative. “It is not the case that superiors find criticism great – rather, they are in a position of power and can therefore deal better with the uneasiness that is triggered,” says Dr Kim.
