Badr Jafar, CEO of Crescent Enterprises and founding patron of the newly established Centre for Strategic Philanthropy, spoke to Alliance Magazine. Badr talks about importance of strategic philanthropy, the focus areas of the new Centre and why it is essential to support professional associations and networks. “I think an important starting point really needs to be a proper understanding of how philanthropy is practiced in high-growth markets,” he says. “These markets are broad – what happens in developing Asia, in the Philippines for example, would be very different from what’s happening in the UAE, which would be very different to what’s happening in Nigeria or Brazil.”
