BBC: Why some work environments breed toxic cultures

 

Dr Thomas Roulet, Associate Professor in Organisation Theory at Cambridge Judge Business School, comments on toxic environment in the workplace.

“High-pressure contexts are more likely to lead to toxic workplaces as stress and anxiety trickle down the hierarchy,” Thomas says. “But large organisations are also more likely to have good systems in place to address toxicity, for example, with opportunities to reach out to HR and initiatives to act on bullying behaviours.”
