The Times: Diversification is all the rage but isn’t it better to stick to the knitting?

Jaideep Prabhu, Professor of Marketing at Cambridge Judge Business School, comments on companies diversifying into new lines of business. According to Jaideep, “the academic literature strongly supports the notion that in developed markets, focus and sticking to the knitting produces stronger shareholder returns than diversification.” (subs)
